Marissa's Story

   Marissa is an adventurous girl.
Every morning she enjoys a walk through her grandmother's garden. She talks to all of the pixies and gnomes, telling them her wonderful little tall tales. When it rains, she goes to the river and watches the fish jump. She imagines each has a little house and family under the water, and when she gets home she draws them in one of her many sketchbooks.

Her grandmother can hardly keep up with her! A sweeter, brighter girl it would be difficult to find. Marissa hopes one day she can be just like her grandma. A great cook, a lovely housewife and an artist~!

Just some thoughts about my newest dollie~! Hope you enjoyed~<3

~Getting Back In The Game~

~Hey there my plush loving pals~

It's tough getting my shop stocked up again after such a long hiatus..I'm not as fast at crocheting as I was! But I have managed to whip up a few projects, and am now on a schedule to get my plushies out in a more timely manner~Here's a little of what I've been working on..

~Of course the classic bearling~

I'm really trying to restock fast, but with just a few months til the holidays I think I may have started a bit late..heh..^^'

Anyhoo, I think my next course of action is toget this blog redesigned...It's looked the same way for about 2-3 years~! Hard to believe really. I would be really interested in hearing opinions on what I should focus on posting about. I'd love your opinion!
Tutorials? Should I focus more on patterns and the maker side of things?
More business oriented? ie. shop updates, coupon codes and giveaways.
Personal stuff? Believe me, I can take LOTS of pictures of my doll collection~! XD

Let me know what you all think~! Until next time~

The Bearlings Are Back, And So Am I! (Finally)

Hi all! Brea here. Now I know it's been a reeeeaaallllyyyyy long time since I've posted, and I apologize for that. The last few years I've really been on a crafting hiatus. I got a little older, started working more and got a car..I just didn't see a place for crafting in my daily life. But alas, now at almost 19 years old, I am back on the crochet scene!
I'm really kind of disappointed in myself for stopping when I did. I had been featured on several other crafting blogs, and was starting to become more active in the doll making community..but I just..got bored. I've decided that I really want to crochet again, however, and have already made a few new dollies and posted them up on my now active Etsy store. I'm not sure how often I'm going to post (I may come up with a schedule later on) but I will try (God Willing) to put something up at least once a month or so.
Also, shameless plug here, I started an Instagram for my store! It's @crochetbestfriends if you'd like to take a look. I'm going to try contests and stuff when I get some more followers so check it out if you are interested~!

Alright, enough stalling, this is the only reason you clicked into this post anyway..THE BEARLING PATTERN!!

I have gotten SOOOOO many comments and emails about this pattern no longer being available. I know guys..I know. I'm a lousy person and the pattern went offline and I thought I had lost it..I didn't really look. Yes, I did find it on a very old flash drive.
HERE it is!

Random Post: Poetry

Ever since my cousin Cedar started a writing blog, I've been in a "poet" mood. Last night Instead of reading, I sat in my bed and wrote poetry and short little stories. It was really fun~! :D
Here are a few of the things I wrote.

Rapunzel
The first time our eyes met,
It felt like lightning,
And a flood,
And a hurricane.
I was all alone,
And far out of reach,
But you stood below my high window,
And sang songs of springtime.

I'm 16
"Get a diary and write down your feelings."
How can I possibly write
What I don't understand?

I specialize in poetry that doesn't rhyme. Lol XD
Thanks for the inspiration Cedar~!

Navir Mask

With my last check, I went to hobby lobby and bought lots of crafting junk I didn't really need. Amongst said pile of junk was an awesome blank white mask, which was just freaky / weird enough to catch my attention. I love masks, especially when they are blank and you get to decorate them yourself~! (a childish thought perhaps, but it really IS fun.)

   Before....

   After...

Doesn't it look like it leads a much more exciting life now? Such INTRIGUE~!!!
This mask is simply called "Navir". I plan on purchasing more of these masks in the future. Hobby Lobby even has cute (?) miniature ones~! :D

...and yes, I CAN sleep at night with this hanging above my bed, thank you very much. :P

To Be Writers

My cousin and good friend Cedar is an aspiring writer. She writes ALL the time, and aspires to be a published author one day. We did a novel writing class together, and she loves reading her stories and poetry to me~! I had the idea that she could start a blog and she jumped on it~! But just a blog wasn't enough for her, she wants to create a hub for other writers to discuss, reason, and chat~! She often inspires me to write, so I will certainly be participating~! :)
If you love, like, or are at least interested in writing, you should visit her new blog~! It's called To Be Writers~!

Here is the link --->     CLICK ME!!!      <---

I'm sure she would LOVE some followers, or even just visitors~! Drop by and leave a comment~! :D

What A Deal!

Pullip dolls are EXPENSIVE. That's for sure. I only work part time, and I'm trying to save for a car, so I don't have a lot of "doll money".  I think most normal working people aren't going to be able to shell out 100 plus bucks for some plastic. Coming from a family of frugal shoppers, I find it difficult to spend that much on a collectable. So I deal shop, like most smart people~! I was browsing on amazon.com for cheap doll deals when I found a price that made my jaw DROP. 15.95? You have gotta be kidding me!! I literally RAN to my room to get my debit card and buy that sucker up~! After shipping, I payed 24.00 for this 2012 byul~!

I copied the description from pullipstyle, where Byul Paradis still costs 127.95 ON SALE.

« This is a paradise full of mystery... What kind of dream will twinkle star's music show»
Other accessories included with doll & outfit:
  • Headdress
  • Hair accessory
  • Heart shaped cape
  • Rabbit plush
  • Accordion
  • Doll Stand
DESCRIPTION:
・Applique, buttons, and many ribbons portrays the characteristics of the creator.
・Long and downward eyelashes and large eyes further bring out the motherly instincts.
・Two buns on either side is also distinctive.
・The accordion included will also draw attention.

I consider byuls "harder to love" then other pullip dolls. Mostly due to their overlarge pouty lips. I probably wouldn't have considered buying this doll if it hadn't been on sale~! It's going to be a surprise, I can't wait~!

So the moral of the story is don't buy up the first cute thing you see~! BARGAIN SHOP~! You won't regret it~!

What A Terrible Blogger.....

This blog has been entirely neglected!! I feel sooo bad about that!! I just haven't made any amigurumi lately, so what do I blog about?? As a matter of fact, I'm still kind of in a crocheting lapse....which I very much need to pull out of!!
Lately I've spent about 80 percent of my free time drawing. It's funny, because when I crochet a lot, my drawing gets neglected. and vice versa.
I think I've given up on twitter. I had a lot of followers, but I have discovered that I HATE social media! I'll keep the facebook page up for my store, but who knows when it will get updated again...The only reason I really like blogging, is because it's kind of like a journal. Albeit a rarely written in journal. I don't really care how much publicity it gives me, twitter and facebook are far to time consuming. I have better things to do...
Since I don't have any amigurumi pics to post up, maybe I'll scan in some of my drawings~! That will at least be something new to look at, aside from text. I have a LOT of drawings, so I could keep post those up for quite some time..
Anybody else watching Downton Abbey? My mother and I recently discovered it, and it has become our new obsession~! We are on season two, and we have to finish it by the end of the week, because the library has so many requests for it. We're on the waiting list for season three as well...
Oh, I have officially started my saving-for-a-car-fund. I have to contribute quite a bit of money per check so that takes a chunk out of my spending money. Not that I really NEED a lot of spending money, but it is nice to have. I'm dreading buying a car though, as I've already seen firsthand the horrors of paying insurance. I suppose I have to actually learn to drive before I can buy one..haha.

I'm going to TRY and crochet something(don't hold your breath) so hopefully I will blog again soon~!

Lack of posts~!

So sorry~! I haven't really been posting much at all lately~!! My life has gotten pretty busy since I started working, and the custom ninja orders have just been flooding in~! My hands are totally full~! But rest assured, I will, God willing, get back into the flow of normal posting again~! I've just gotta get some of this work out of the way~!

I've made tons of new pullip outfits (well, like, five) and I will try and get pics of them soon~I also got a new doll~! A boy (taeyang) doll, I named him Erik. I don't have any pics of him yet, so I'll just give you a stock photo~

Anyhoo, I have a ton of ninjas to make so I'd better get going~Talk to you guys later~!

Mini Dino, and Handmade Pullip Eyes~!

So I got a request for a custom dino~! Apparently, he thinks he is a turtle, and wears and acorn cap on his back lol~! I've been making so much doll stuff lately, I kind of forgot what it felt like to use worsted weight yarn~! XD

I used teeny tiny glass beads for his eyes. My favorite bit is his mouth though,  he has a cute smile~! :D

I believe his name is Sheldon~! Such a cute name for this little guy~! :D I hope he likes his new home~! :3

And of course, I have been crocheting clothes and such for Dove~! Lookee here, without paying a dime, dove got new eye chips, a new wig, and a new dress (which is going to be sold, sorry Dove).

I crocheted the wig with bulky weight lion brand yarn. I brushed it out, and it made lovely red locks~! It stays on my Dal's head with sticky velcro.

The dress of course was crocheted with fingering weight yarn. I'm still developing my doll clothes-designing skills,  so I'm mostly sticking with simple designs.

The eye chips were fun to make, If you own a Dal, Pullip, Isul or Taeyang there is a way to make your own eye chips~! I used amigurumi safety eyes~! I clipped off the back with wire cutters, sanded it down, and then painted the backside, and sealed it. Then just a little bit of glue around the edges ( just to make sure they wouldn't fall out) , and Dove had a pair of pretty green eyes~! :3

I'm very pleased with the outcome~!

I may not have as much time for crafting as I usually would, because...drum roll please...I GOT MY FIRST JOB~!!!! XD Yup, as of today, I am officially a Wal-Mart employee~! I'm uber excited to start my first day~! :3

Old Fashion Day And More~!

Well it came and went, faster than I would have imagined!! I can't believe I did all that preparation, and it's already over!!
When we first got to the courthouse lawn, which is where the booths are set up, it was wet, drizzling, and overall miserable weather for a fair. I was totally stressed out.

The grey and gloomy sky when we first arrived
We were right underneath a big tree, which under normal circumstances is good, but water was dripping from the leaves and branches onto my stuff! It was a good thing we brought cloths to put on the tables, because we were able to cover the plushies and save them from a terrible (and wet ) fate.
Thank God, the weather cleared up at just about the time that the fair opened. People started to come, and we were able to uncover the toys.

The banner I ordered ended up being to long for the new tables, so it was hanging on the ground, but nobody really payed much attention to it anyway.

The table, and me, trying to avoid getting my picture taken.

We were, of course, One of the ONLY booths without a canopy over our heads, but I didn't really mind that either.

These guys look so much cuter all boxed together!

As the day went on, business picked up, and lots of people started coming! I made a killing~!! X3
The music was VERY loud, and they kept playing the same songs over and over and over and over...(mostly Michael Jackson...) but aside from that, a very long and boring auction, and the slightly disturbing sight of Ronald Mcdonald moon-walking (ALMOST got it on video..darn..) the fair was pretty fun~!

Mom arranging the quickly emptying table.
Even more empty...

I just took this picture because it was cute... X3

A few days later was...drum roll please...MY 16TH BIRTHDAY~!!! It was so much fun, best birthday ever~!! My mom set up the dining room like a theatre, with a mural that looked like a curtain, and lights all around it. Their were masks all over the table, and stars hanging from the ceiling. I got more Phantom Of The Opera merchandise than should be allowed in one room. X3 I was totally geeking out. I also got the doll I wanted from my Grandma~!!!

My little girl Dove :3
I am officially a Dal owner~! I already changed her wig, from her original to this black one, and now her hair is red~! (Yeah... I scalped a lot of porcelain dolls...)

Looks left
and right

I had a b-day sleepover, and me and my bffs dressed up in old fashioned clothes, and had tea. Ironically, though it was my birthday, I was the butler. :) It was really fun~!

Two of the costumes, I'm the one on the right in the red vest...I love that vest...

This shirt was WAY to big for any of us...but we wore it anyway~!
I erased the rest of the pictures, because the quality was even worse than these. X)

I got sick at the end of the party, as I do every time we stay up until 6 am, but it was still really fun~!

The outfit I showed Dove in was made by me~! I'm satisfying my dolly love by crocheting and sewing Pullip and Dal clothes to sell, so you will probably see more pics of them soon~!
