The Bearlings Are Back, And So Am I! (Finally)

Hi all! Brea here. Now I know it's been a reeeeaaallllyyyyy long time since I've posted, and I apologize for that. The last few years I've really been on a crafting hiatus. I got a little older, started working more and got a car..I just didn't see a place for crafting in my daily life. But alas, now at almost 19 years old, I am back on the crochet scene!
I'm really kind of disappointed in myself for stopping when I did. I had been featured on several other crafting blogs, and was starting to become more active in the doll making community..but I just..got bored. I've decided that I really want to crochet again, however, and have already made a few new dollies and posted them up on my now active Etsy store. I'm not sure how often I'm going to post (I may come up with a schedule later on) but I will try (God Willing) to put something up at least once a month or so.
Also, shameless plug here, I started an Instagram for my store! It's @crochetbestfriends if you'd like to take a look. I'm going to try contests and stuff when I get some more followers so check it out if you are interested~!

Alright, enough stalling, this is the only reason you clicked into this post anyway..THE BEARLING PATTERN!!

I have gotten SOOOOO many comments and emails about this pattern no longer being available. I know guys..I know. I'm a lousy person and the pattern went offline and I thought I had lost it..I didn't really look. Yes, I did find it on a very old flash drive.
HERE it is!

Mini Dino, and Handmade Pullip Eyes~!

So I got a request for a custom dino~! Apparently, he thinks he is a turtle, and wears and acorn cap on his back lol~! I've been making so much doll stuff lately, I kind of forgot what it felt like to use worsted weight yarn~! XD

I used teeny tiny glass beads for his eyes. My favorite bit is his mouth though,  he has a cute smile~! :D

I believe his name is Sheldon~! Such a cute name for this little guy~! :D I hope he likes his new home~! :3

And of course, I have been crocheting clothes and such for Dove~! Lookee here, without paying a dime, dove got new eye chips, a new wig, and a new dress (which is going to be sold, sorry Dove).

I crocheted the wig with bulky weight lion brand yarn. I brushed it out, and it made lovely red locks~! It stays on my Dal's head with sticky velcro.

The dress of course was crocheted with fingering weight yarn. I'm still developing my doll clothes-designing skills,  so I'm mostly sticking with simple designs.

The eye chips were fun to make, If you own a Dal, Pullip, Isul or Taeyang there is a way to make your own eye chips~! I used amigurumi safety eyes~! I clipped off the back with wire cutters, sanded it down, and then painted the backside, and sealed it. Then just a little bit of glue around the edges ( just to make sure they wouldn't fall out) , and Dove had a pair of pretty green eyes~! :3

I'm very pleased with the outcome~!

I may not have as much time for crafting as I usually would, because...drum roll please...I GOT MY FIRST JOB~!!!! XD Yup, as of today, I am officially a Wal-Mart employee~! I'm uber excited to start my first day~! :3

Little Cuties and Big Stress

O.M.G. Their is a 20% rain chance on Saturday. SATURDAY IS THE DAY OF MY CRAFT FAIR!!! Please, no....

On a happier note, I took some pics  of my newest creations~! These little guys are made from a super simple body pattern that was easy to write up~! I'm very happy with how they came out, and I'm working on another one right now~! It's nice to take a break from anime style dolls once in a while to make something old fashioned-looking~! :)

Making overalls was a first for me, but it's essentially the same as making a dress...only with leg holes! XD

You can see how simple the body is, just circles and tubes, and no fancy detailing. The fact that their so simple is what makes me like them~! They work up fast too~! :D

I'm seriously hoping it's not going to rain Saturday...that would kill me... >_>

                                                                      Lotsa Love,

Lisa's Minako

Lisa ( Iesadora ) Won my Minako pattern a while back, and a few days ago she sent me pictures of her finished bunny! Here they are!!

                                                Isn't it just a cutie!!?? I love the bow-tie! >v<

Thanks for sharing your pics Lisa!! :D

I made some plushies too! Some cute lil teddies!  Classy Teddy and Lemon Pie teddy!

I made some more custom ninjas too, but I don't have pics of those(besides, ninjas are getting a little boring aren't they?)

                                                                  Until next time then!!

New Cattitude Kitty!

I have a new cattitude kitty out (hence the title)! Her name is Naughty Little Child, and she has some CRAZY hair!!  I liked making her mouth, pretty much anything with really large, pointy, fangs is cool.

I tried twice, but I just couldn't sew her an outfit...so she ended up having a t-shirt needle felted into her (boy that's gotta hurt) and a heart applique added afterwards.

I also made this giant owl baby. I haven't really had much time for my normal projects, because I  worked like crazy getting birthday presents finished by the 4th(my lil twin cousin's b-day). I'll show you those in a different post. Speaking of the fourth, we didn't get to see fireworks this year, because of a burn ban. Luckily, yesterday we got some much needed rain. I still feel like I missed out though. :( How was YOUR Independence Day? Did you get to see fireworks?

Experimenting With Jointing

I love making dolls, but my biggest problem is that the legs are always really stiff, and I can't get the doll to sit down! Well, that problem is no more! I found a blog with a tutorial on how to thread joint legs, and it worked! You can find a link to that blog HERE. Another thing I wanted to try was jointing heads. I've used safety eyes to joint ami heads before, but that always seemed a little flimsy to me, and I had to make the hole in the neck really small. I found an easier way to do it! There is another helpful tutorial, HERE! Honestly I don't know what I would do without the internet....
Anyway! I made a doll with jointed legs and head! Her name is Sasha and I absolutely LOVE her!!

I'm getting better at styling doll hair too! I just used plain black yarn for Sasha's hair, hooking it into the scalp every two rows until I reached the crown, then hooking in long bangs, and cutting them to the desired length.

I made a few other toys with jointed necks as well, Beep the robot kitty, and Nicolo the bear.

Nicolo is sort of like Pirate Bears stalker (LOL) I figured since he was an angry looking bear he should join the crew of the Sunshiney (Pirate Bear's ship, if you don't remember) He's a stow-away!
I want to make a newer, cooler version of pirate bear, maybe I will change his color scheme to something more masculine....I could also make him a hat, now that I know how to do it!

Beep is a robot kitty, I've had these buttons for quite a while, and they make perfect robot eyes! The Caron simply soft looked really shiny too, kind of like metal.

I also figured I should try and make something else with my abundance of felt, so I drew out a cheezy little 2D sewing pattern on some graph paper. I love the way plush food looks (so cute!!) so I drew an ice cream cone and a cupcake, and cut them out.

I wasn't entirely sure these were good enough, but I used the cupcake template, and cut out some felt. Here's what I made!

I love him, and now I can make as many cupcakes as I want!! The ice cream should be next.

Oh yeah, I drew on the graph paper too...I have lots of sketchbooks, but I hate ruining the completely white pages by DRAWING on them(ironic I know)! Aaaaanyways, I keep saying I will post up more of my pictures, and I never do....So here is something I sketched onto said graph paper.

This guy keeps popping up all over my sketch books...He's kinda creepy looking, but I like him.I haven't thought of his story yet though....

I'm starting to ramble, so I will take my leave. Until next time! *waves*

Bearling Keychain!

So my mom bought this HUGE bag of felt, and when I say huge I mean it. There is probably more than 100 sheets in every color imaginable!! Some of it is even glittery(not that I'm into glitter), and most of it is REALLY soft (the expensive stuff!)

and this isn't even all of it!!

I am going to have to seriously polish my sewing skills and make some cute felt plushies!! For starters I made a sweet little bearling keychain! (can you tell how much I LOVE the bearlings?)

I want to make more in lots of different colors!Who knows if that will ever get done, but I certainly have the resources!

I also made this sweet crocheted kitty! I used the same baby yarn I used on Minako, and I still have way to much of it left!

Her name is Sherbet! XD I'm trying to get on the ball, I've only been making about two projects a week, which isn't meeting my crochet quota....I have to get motivated and work harder! (man this is gonna be hard when I get a job...)
Anyhoo, I have a purple blob waiting in the project bag for some eyes (plastic or buttons, felt or cloth???)
I thiiink it's going to be a teddy.....but that is for the future to decide!! Well, until next time!!!
