Little Cuties and Big Stress

O.M.G. Their is a 20% rain chance on Saturday. SATURDAY IS THE DAY OF MY CRAFT FAIR!!! Please, no....

On a happier note, I took some pics  of my newest creations~! These little guys are made from a super simple body pattern that was easy to write up~! I'm very happy with how they came out, and I'm working on another one right now~! It's nice to take a break from anime style dolls once in a while to make something old fashioned-looking~! :)

Making overalls was a first for me, but it's essentially the same as making a dress...only with leg holes! XD

You can see how simple the body is, just circles and tubes, and no fancy detailing. The fact that their so simple is what makes me like them~! They work up fast too~! :D

I'm seriously hoping it's not going to rain Saturday...that would kill me... >_>

Experimenting With Jointing

I love making dolls, but my biggest problem is that the legs are always really stiff, and I can't get the doll to sit down! Well, that problem is no more! I found a blog with a tutorial on how to thread joint legs, and it worked! You can find a link to that blog HERE. Another thing I wanted to try was jointing heads. I've used safety eyes to joint ami heads before, but that always seemed a little flimsy to me, and I had to make the hole in the neck really small. I found an easier way to do it! There is another helpful tutorial, HERE! Honestly I don't know what I would do without the internet....
Anyway! I made a doll with jointed legs and head! Her name is Sasha and I absolutely LOVE her!!

I'm getting better at styling doll hair too! I just used plain black yarn for Sasha's hair, hooking it into the scalp every two rows until I reached the crown, then hooking in long bangs, and cutting them to the desired length.

I made a few other toys with jointed necks as well, Beep the robot kitty, and Nicolo the bear.

Nicolo is sort of like Pirate Bears stalker (LOL) I figured since he was an angry looking bear he should join the crew of the Sunshiney (Pirate Bear's ship, if you don't remember) He's a stow-away!
I want to make a newer, cooler version of pirate bear, maybe I will change his color scheme to something more masculine....I could also make him a hat, now that I know how to do it!

Beep is a robot kitty, I've had these buttons for quite a while, and they make perfect robot eyes! The Caron simply soft looked really shiny too, kind of like metal.

I also figured I should try and make something else with my abundance of felt, so I drew out a cheezy little 2D sewing pattern on some graph paper. I love the way plush food looks (so cute!!) so I drew an ice cream cone and a cupcake, and cut them out.

I wasn't entirely sure these were good enough, but I used the cupcake template, and cut out some felt. Here's what I made!

I love him, and now I can make as many cupcakes as I want!! The ice cream should be next.

Oh yeah, I drew on the graph paper too...I have lots of sketchbooks, but I hate ruining the completely white pages by DRAWING on them(ironic I know)! Aaaaanyways, I keep saying I will post up more of my pictures, and I never do....So here is something I sketched onto said graph paper.

This guy keeps popping up all over my sketch books...He's kinda creepy looking, but I like him.I haven't thought of his story yet though....

I'm starting to ramble, so I will take my leave. Until next time! *waves*

New Anime Girl!

Well, here she is! Completely finished! I actually used the wrong side for her head, because I thought it would help the eyes stay on better. This is the first time I've used the wrong side, and I actually don't mind it for the face, because it looks smooth. I think I will stick with the right side for all of the other doll body parts.

I absolutely LOVE red haired dolls, and I managed to give this little lady a fairly anime-ish hair style!
I love the yarn her hair is made out of (although I can't remember what it's called..)!
Her dress is made from the sleeve of one of my old shirts (recycling lol), I have a ton of old clothes that can be used up for doll dresses, if only I was a wee bit better at sewing...anyway, I'm going to look up some clothes making tutorials online, and hopefully that will help! ^_^

Also, I made a cute badge for my blog! ( I'm hoping to get one of those html boxes up soon!)

and...a signature! Now I can say goodbye with style! ;)

If At First You Don't Succeed......

Ok, I messed up........Remember the tiny doll from a few posts back? The little red haired girl? Well I made her a bit to big for my customers doll....Observe:

The picture is kinda funny though... X)

Needless to say, I had to make another one .....

Had a bit of trouble on the hair... I worked on it for about an hour!
It was my first time ever really working with thread, It was kind of fun.
I had just bought a pack of tiny black and white buttons, they were just about right for her eyes.

The customer loved the new one!
So I guess, all's well that ends well :)

The new doll was just the right size!....Phew....

Another Tiny Doll

Here are the pics of the other mini doll, as promised!! This one is a little bigger than the last one..about 31/4" tall and 2" wide. I like her boa though X) She's in my Etsy store! :)

I think the next doll I crochet will be made of MUCH thinner yarn. And maybe a smaller hook.....
My mom gave me a whole ton of capsules, like the kind you get out of a candy machine. I'm pretty excited! I see tiny toys brimming on the horizon!! :D

Commisioned Mini Doll!

A couple days ago I got a special order for a 2 1/2" doll!It was really fun to make because I could use up some of the really fine yarn that looks pretty, but is rather impractical.

I was happy when I was told to give the doll red hair. :) I happen to love red haired dolls! ;)
I really want to give her a name!! But alas... I have no right to bestow a name upon a custom order....
the eyes look big because she's so small, they're actually about 9mm...or maybe smaller?
As it turns out, this was a doll FOR a doll! My customer said that she wanted a little toy for a small ball-jointed doll. I've seen these little dolls on the internet (blythe, pullip,dollfie...) I'd love to get one, but I guess they are for SERIOUS collectors. Which means way outta my price range lol. I'll just have to make do with creating my own :)I bet it will be adorable to see her sweet little doll holding mine X) I'm working on another one right now,I think she'll have black hair (which I also happen to love) look for some pics of her soon!

OH! What Big Eyes You Have!

I made a cardboard thingamajig to mount my safety eyes on while I paint them.
I initially painted them all black, but then I started painting random things on them...On one pair
I painted something like tiny suns...I have no idea what I'm going to use them on lol XD
I sort of tried to make anime/manga style eyes with this pair. I'm Not really sure it worked....
Here is a little poof ball kitty I created ( he's available in my Etsy store) He's modeling a pair of freshly glossed black eyes.
Here is the start to a pair of hand drawn anime eyes....
And here is the finished product! I absolutely LOVE drawing anime eyes. It is rare to find a piece of my schoolwork without an eye or two on it! :)
I started a little doll with my new creations, I kind of wish I had used them on an animal, but oh well I can make more :)
And here she is all dressed up and ready to go! :)  I think I'm gonna make some more anime dolls in the near future (gee it seems like I've been putting that a lot lately lol)  :D
