New Cattitude Kitty!

I have a new cattitude kitty out (hence the title)! Her name is Naughty Little Child, and she has some CRAZY hair!!  I liked making her mouth, pretty much anything with really large, pointy, fangs is cool.

I tried twice, but I just couldn't sew her an outfit...so she ended up having a t-shirt needle felted into her (boy that's gotta hurt) and a heart applique added afterwards.

I also made this giant owl baby. I haven't really had much time for my normal projects, because I  worked like crazy getting birthday presents finished by the 4th(my lil twin cousin's b-day). I'll show you those in a different post. Speaking of the fourth, we didn't get to see fireworks this year, because of a burn ban. Luckily, yesterday we got some much needed rain. I still feel like I missed out though. :( How was YOUR Independence Day? Did you get to see fireworks?

Experimenting With Jointing

I love making dolls, but my biggest problem is that the legs are always really stiff, and I can't get the doll to sit down! Well, that problem is no more! I found a blog with a tutorial on how to thread joint legs, and it worked! You can find a link to that blog HERE. Another thing I wanted to try was jointing heads. I've used safety eyes to joint ami heads before, but that always seemed a little flimsy to me, and I had to make the hole in the neck really small. I found an easier way to do it! There is another helpful tutorial, HERE! Honestly I don't know what I would do without the internet....
Anyway! I made a doll with jointed legs and head! Her name is Sasha and I absolutely LOVE her!!

I'm getting better at styling doll hair too! I just used plain black yarn for Sasha's hair, hooking it into the scalp every two rows until I reached the crown, then hooking in long bangs, and cutting them to the desired length.

I made a few other toys with jointed necks as well, Beep the robot kitty, and Nicolo the bear.

Nicolo is sort of like Pirate Bears stalker (LOL) I figured since he was an angry looking bear he should join the crew of the Sunshiney (Pirate Bear's ship, if you don't remember) He's a stow-away!
I want to make a newer, cooler version of pirate bear, maybe I will change his color scheme to something more masculine....I could also make him a hat, now that I know how to do it!

Beep is a robot kitty, I've had these buttons for quite a while, and they make perfect robot eyes! The Caron simply soft looked really shiny too, kind of like metal.

I also figured I should try and make something else with my abundance of felt, so I drew out a cheezy little 2D sewing pattern on some graph paper. I love the way plush food looks (so cute!!) so I drew an ice cream cone and a cupcake, and cut them out.

I wasn't entirely sure these were good enough, but I used the cupcake template, and cut out some felt. Here's what I made!

I love him, and now I can make as many cupcakes as I want!! The ice cream should be next.

Oh yeah, I drew on the graph paper too...I have lots of sketchbooks, but I hate ruining the completely white pages by DRAWING on them(ironic I know)! Aaaaanyways, I keep saying I will post up more of my pictures, and I never do....So here is something I sketched onto said graph paper.

This guy keeps popping up all over my sketch books...He's kinda creepy looking, but I like him.I haven't thought of his story yet though....

I'm starting to ramble, so I will take my leave. Until next time! *waves*

Bearling Keychain!

So my mom bought this HUGE bag of felt, and when I say huge I mean it. There is probably more than 100 sheets in every color imaginable!! Some of it is even glittery(not that I'm into glitter), and most of it is REALLY soft (the expensive stuff!)

and this isn't even all of it!!

I am going to have to seriously polish my sewing skills and make some cute felt plushies!! For starters I made a sweet little bearling keychain! (can you tell how much I LOVE the bearlings?)

I want to make more in lots of different colors!Who knows if that will ever get done, but I certainly have the resources!

I also made this sweet crocheted kitty! I used the same baby yarn I used on Minako, and I still have way to much of it left!

Her name is Sherbet! XD I'm trying to get on the ball, I've only been making about two projects a week, which isn't meeting my crochet quota....I have to get motivated and work harder! (man this is gonna be hard when I get a job...)
Anyhoo, I have a purple blob waiting in the project bag for some eyes (plastic or buttons, felt or cloth???)
I thiiink it's going to be a teddy.....but that is for the future to decide!! Well, until next time!!!

Cattitude Kitties!

So I came up with the idea of making a basic body shape for an Ami, and then going crazy with details, and this is what came of it: Cattitude Kitties! It took me a while to figure out what kind of animal I wanted them to be, but in the end cats one over bears (teddies are so done) and dogs (I am NOT a dog person). The first one I made, I wanted the theme to be blue, so I used blue yarn for the hair, blue felt for the apron, and blue striped material for her turtleneck. She ended up as  "The Busy Mom Kitty" which was the best theme I could think of.

Her shirt is not very intricate, but I hope with practice, I will get better at making clothing for my dolls!

Making the hair took FOREVER. I peeled apart yarn for a very long time, until each ply was separate, then I laid it across the head and needle-felted it into place. It took a really long time, but It turned out looking nice! :)
My Grandma got me a big Ol' bucket of buttons, so I used them too accessorize my kitties.

I found a blue heart button which went just perfectly with busy mom kitties blouse!

The next kitty I made was way more fun! I've been watching The Pirates Of The Caribbean movies lately, and have been in a pirate-y mood. So Vengeful Pirate Kitty was born!!

I used another button for his belt buckle!

I really love how his eye turned out! It's really fun experimenting with drawing different kinds of eyes for my Amigurumis!

I had kind of a hard time making his hat (I'm not much of a seamstress lol) But In the end, after much frustration, I turned it sideways, and It looked more like a pirate hat than it did from the front....
I'm really happy with how these guys turned out, and hope to make more soon!

Both of these guys are in my Etsy store!
